On Friday August 8th, the Mets struck a 6 Player deal with the Chicago Cubs. The Deal: CF Lance Johnson SP Mark Clark and SS Manny Alexander for RP Turk Wendell, RP Mel Rojas and CF Brian Mcrae. In need of Bullpen help, New York improved by aqquring both Turk Wendell and Mel Rojas, who was the Closer for Montreal and Chicago in past seasons. Brian McRae is a better defensive Centerfielder than Johnson but he hasn't been swinging the bat that well this season.

of the Season giving the Mets a 2-0 Lead.

Season. Lance Johnson went 3 for 4 with 2 Triples and 2 RBI's to help the
Mets Win their 62nd Game of the Year.

After an Hour and 1/2 long rain delay, The Mets Won the Game in the
10th on a Edgardo Alfonzo Sacrifice Fly.

Ellis Burks hit a Solo HR for the Rockies in their 4-0 Win.

Brian Mcrae, traded
from the Cubs to the Mets on Friday, had a Triple, Single, 2 Runs Scored
and a Walk in his Debut with the Mets. Brian Bohanon Pitched a Solid
Game for the Win.

Bagwell Homered Twice
while driving in 4 Runs as the Astros defeated the Mets 8-3. With the score
tied at 3-3, Houston Scored 5 Times in the Top of the 9th which included
a 3 Run HR by Bagwell. Former Met Tim Bogar had a triple
in the 9th and scored the Go Ahead run. Mel Rojas took the Loss
while allowing all 5 Runs in the final Inning. Todd Hundley hit
his 24th HR of the Season in the 2nd Inning.

The Mets finished up their West Coast Road Trip at 4-4. 2-1 at LA, 1-2 at SD, and 1-1 at SF. New York lost a 3 Game Series to the Houston Astros 2-1. New York Swept the 2 Game Series with the St. Louis. New York Split a 2 Game Series with Colorado on Wednesday and Thursday.
